Wanting to take a more active part in his grandson's cricketing career, Richard decided that being able to craft a bat with specifications to suit his grandson's needs would benefit both of them.  His long term love and skill in fine wood working along with his knowledge of cricket through his grandson were combined to create Top Score cricket bats.

 

Under the tutelage of master bat maker and former Australian Test cricketer Ian Callen, Richard became an accredited WillowBlue Australia Bat Maker.
